Accessibility

The Inca Trail is the ancient route used to connect all four corners of the Inca Empire (literally translated, Inca means “Four Regions” in Quechua, the Inca language). The trail comprises more than 50,000 kilometres of foot highways that integrated this vast empire from Tawantinsuyu in southern Colombia to central Chile, passing through the cities of Quito in Ecuador and Cajamarca, Huanuco and Cusco in Peru, and La Paz and Cochabamba in Bolivia. The trail starts in Cusco, the old imperial Inca capital, which was both the administrative and religious centre of the empire. You will have the opportunity to visit many Inca ruins and get a sense of this remarkable civilisation.
