Adventure Club Hike
R510,00
This Sunday we will be hiking the 7.4km San Rock Engravings Trail at Plumari Private Nature Reserve in the Magaliesberg.
This guided hike offers a unique combination of nature, history, and culture. As we make our way through the reserve, our guide will introduce us to medicinal plants and the diverse flora and fauna that call the Magaliesberg home.
The highlight of the hike is visiting the ancient San Petroglyphs (Rock Engravings), some of the finest examples of prehistoric art in the region. These remarkable engravings were created by people who lived and worked in the Magaliesberg Valley between the Stone Age and Iron Age, approximately 500–2,000 years ago.
A short climb to the top of the hill rewards us with a fascinating glimpse into the lives and artistic skills of these early inhabitants, who created near-perfect images of animals using little more than metallic rock and rudimentary iron tools. The route is not particularly strenuous and offers beautiful bushveld scenery along the way.
